講座內容:
Extinction spectroscopy for particle sizing is based on the analysis of wavelength-dependent light attenuation to determine particle size distributions. It is, in principle, a simple technique. Prior to the advent of CCD-based spectroscopes, this technique had already established utility across multiple fields. Thanks to the development of the CCD-based spectroscope and computer science, it has experienced significant progress, and become widely used in many fields, such as measurement of web steam in power plants, automotive exhaust analysis, atmospheric dust monitoring, etc. However, the technique’s reliability depends on two critical factors: (1) optimized optical configuration (e.g., wavelength selection, size and position of the detector …) and (2) robust inversion algorithms to solve the inherently ill-posed PSD retrieval problem. This talk will share the experience in the development of (i) an advanced inversion algorithm employing adaptive regularization and multi-wavelength calibration to handle complex, polydisperse systems; (ii) a user-friendly software package featuring real-time processing and automated quality control; and (iii) field-tested measurement systems validated for industrial environments, such as turbine steam quality control and diesel particulate emissions testing.
